Delinquent Tax

Responsible for the enforced collection of delinquent property taxes, both real and personal (excluding vehicles) and holds the annual tax sale of real property. 

Mission

The mission of the Pickens County Delinquent Tax Office is to provide prompt and courteous customer service to the citizens of Pickens County while enforcing the laws that govern the office. 

Payments may be mailed to the office or paid in person by paying in cash, money order, cashier's check, and debit/credit card
You may pay delinquent taxes online or via phone at 1-844-892-2671 until July 31, 2024
Personal checks and business checks are not accepted for real estate payment after July 31, 2024

Current year and prior year business personal property taxes (BPP) will be paid to AFCS after July 4 each year. 
Pickens Cou
nty has contracted American Financial Credit Services (AFCS) to assist with collection of unpaid business personal property tax.

1.  When is your next tax sale?
     Our next tax sale will be held on October 8, 2024
2.  Where are your tax sales held?
     Our tax sales are held at the Pickens County Performing Arts Center (PAC) located at 314 W. Main Street, Liberty, SC 29657
3.  Can I get a list of the properties that are going to be auctioned off?
     The list will be available for 3 weeks prior to sale date in the local newspaper and on this webpage for you to view/print. 
4.  Will there be an updated list of items on the website prior to tax sale?
      Yes. You will find the unofficial tax sale list here by 6:00 pm on the Friday prior to the tax sale
5.  What can I do to register?
      You must turn in the ORIGINAL & SIGNED Bidder Registration Form into the Delinquent Tax Office by Monday, October 7, 2024.
        THERE IS NO REGISTRATION AVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF THE TAX SALE. 
6. Can I buy a property before it goes to sale?
     No. The only way to obtain property for delinquent taxes is to be the successful bidder at the tax sale
7.  If I buy property at the tax sale, is the property mine that day?
     No. There is a one year redemption period in which the taxpayer may pay to reclaim his property. If that happens you get your money back with interest.
8.  Do you have any property that didn't sell at previous sales?
     Yes. Those are called FLC properties and you may find that list here - FLC LIST
