Jury Duty

Jury service is one of the highest forms of civic duty we, as citizens, can perform. As citizens of South Carolina, and of the United States, each of us has an obligation to make a contribution to the American system of justice. You are now being called upon to participate in one of the cornerstones of the judicial process--trial by jury. The mandate of justice for all can only be achieved through the combined efforts of judges, lawyers and citizens serving as jurors.

Pickens County Circuit Court Jury Service
If you received a juror summons in a Pickens County Sheriff's envelope summoning you to appear at the Pickens County Clerk of Court, 214 E Main Street, Pickens, S.C. 29671, you have been summoned for circuit court. Circuit court consists of two types of court, Common Pleas and General Sessions. Our terms of court are one week. You normally report on the Monday of the term for qualification and selection, unless designated otherwise on your summons due to a holiday. Even though our court terms are one week this does not mean you will have to appear each day. During jury qualification and selection the Circuit Court Judge will provide more detailed information regarding the amount of trials and trial length for the week. If you are not selected for a jury trial you will be instructed to call the jury instruction line each evening during your term to be informed of your report status. Jurors are paid via a pay card issued on the day of qualification. Juror pay will be uploaded to these cards at the end of the week and include pay for all days a juror is present. Jury service vouchers are available upon request. Please contact the Juror Coordinator to obtain a voucher or see the Receptionist at the Office of the Clerk of Court while you are present for jury duty.
