Divisions of Special Operations

The Pickens County Special Operations team is a joint operation between all public safety agencies across Pickens County.  Members of this group are made up of volunteers and full-time staff.  Many members of this group are full-time with fire departments, EMS and law enforcement agencies across the county.  The team is trained in various disciplines and is used during inclement weather responses.

DIVE RESCUE

Responds to incidents along Lake Jocassee, Lake Keowee, Lake Hartwell and other bodies of water around Pickens County.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Provides mitigation and stabilization of events and emergencies involving hazardous materials countywide.  This includes along highways and at fixed facilities.

SWIFTWATER RESCUE

Specializes in moving water rescues along the Saluda River, Eastatoee River and Twelve Mile River.

TECHNICAL RESCUE

Responds to search and rescue emergencies throughout the county.  Utilizing specialized training and rope rescue equipment, this team can perform rescues along steep embankments, confined space, high angles, trenches and minor collapses.

FIELD COMMUNICATIONS

Responds to all large scale or complex incidents to assist operations personnel with radio and data communications.

MEDICAL SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP (MSOG)

Specially trained EMS personnel respond to injuries in a wilderness environment, mass casualty and active shooter situations.
