- Citizens of Pickens County may register to vote at the Registration and Elections
Office, by mail, Motor Voter (DMV, DSS, and any other public assistance agency),
via the internet, public libraries, and city halls.
- Once the application is approved a voter registration certificate is mailed to the
voter. This document certifies one as a registered voter in Pickens County and informs
the voter which precinct they vote in and the location of the polling place where
they vote.
- The voter registration certificate tells the voter which voting districts they are
eligible to vote in (US Senate, Congressional, SC Senate, SC House, County Council,
School District, City Council (if applicable), fire districts, etc).
- Citizens who are registering for the first time in Pickens County must complete
the application for voter registration, deliver it to the office or have it postmarked
no later than 30 days prior to any election they wish to vote in.
- Voters must keep their residence address current on their voter registration record.
- It is also very important to keep the mailing address current so the voter can be
notified of any changes in polling locations or district changes.
- Changes of address can also be made using the voter registration application or
change of address form.
- Changes of address can be made up to Election Day.
If you want to verify that you are assigned to the correct district, maps are available
through the Pickens County GIS department.
Precincts and election districts are redrawn every ten years through coordination
with the Pickens County Delegation and Pickens County Council based on current population
figures.
